Mads Clausen

Short Biography

Mads Clausen graduated with degrees in East Asian Area Studies and English from the University of Aarhus. His M.A. thesis explored issues of history and national identity in David Malouf's fiction. He is currently working on a Ph.D.-project supervised by Stuart Ward at the University of Copenhagen's Centre for Australian Studies. The project is entitled The Vortex Is Here: Asia and Australian Post-Imperial Nationhood. His research interests include Australian Studies, nationalism, the histories of empire and colonialism, Australian and postcolonial literature, sport and identity. He has taught Australian, American, British and Postcolonial Studies at several Danish universities. He was the 2003 Greta Hort Fellow at the University of Melbourne's Australian Centre.
