Caroline A. Williams

Short Biography

Caroline A. Williams in Senior Lecturer in Latin American Studies in the Department of Hispanic, Portuguese, and Latin American Studies of the University of Bristol. She is a historian of colonial Latin America and has a particular interest in the colonization of indigenous populations on the frontiers of the empire. Recent publications include Between Resistance and Adaptation: Indigenous Peoples and the Colonisation of the Chocó, 1510–1753 (Liverpool: University of Liverpool Press, 2004) and ‘Adaptation and Appropriation on the Colonial Frontier: Indigenous Leadership in the Colombian Chocó, 1670–1808’, Bulletin of Latin American Research 26/2 (2007): 181–99.
