Jessica Horsley

Short Biography

Jessica Horsley’s work is sited at the intersection of history, art history, music and linguistics. Her first book, Der Almanach des Blauen Reiters als Gesamtkunstwerk (Frankfurt am Main: Peter Lang, 2006), analyses what is arguably the most valuable surviving primary source of the modernist period: the Blue Rider almanac (Munich: Piper, 1912). Current research focuses on modernist periodicals published in Munich during the first quarter of the 20th century; she has been commissioned to provide a chapter for the forthcoming third volume in the series Modernist Magazines (Oxford University Press; eds. Peter Brooker and Andrew Thacker). From 2006 to 2008, Jessica Horsley was a Lecturer in Modern European History at Cardiff University. She studied Music at Trinity College, Cambridge and the Paris Conservatoire, holds an MA in Modern History and Russian from Royal Holloway, University of London, a PhD in Art History from the Universität Tübingen and is now working towards a Habilitationsarbeit in Basle.
