Laurie Garrison

Short Biography

Laurie Garrison completed a Ph.D. at Birkbeck in 2005 and has since been working as Research Assistant on the Lord Chamberlain's Plays Project at Royal Holloway. Her current research focuses on two major projects: a study of science and sexuality in sensation novels of the 1860s and a study of sexuality in arctic exploration in the long nineteenth century. She has also written several articles on visual culture and is currently compiling a scholarly edition of texts related to the panorama. Laurie has publications forthcoming in Victorian Literature and Culture, a collection on image and text in Victorian periodicals, an undergraduate guide to the study of Victorian literature, and she is currently preparing a special issue of the online journal Romanticism and Victorianism on the Net.
