Leonard von Morzé
Short Biography
Leonard von Morzé teaches American literature of all periods, but his research focuses on the early republic, with special emphasis on wider transatlantic contexts in the 18th century, particularly the political writing of the late Enlightenment. He has published on Scots-Irish poetry in Early American Studies, on race and commerce in Teaching the Transatlantic Eighteenth Century, and on Hugh Henry Brackenridge in The Literary Encyclopedia Online. He has held a fellowship at the Library Company of Philadelphia. He holds an MA in English and Comparative Literature from the University of California, Irvine, and a BA and PhD in English from the University of California, Berkeley. He is currently Assistant Professor of English at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
