Stephen J. Whitfield

Short Biography

Stephen J. Whitfield serves as Max Richter Professor of American Civilization at Brandeis University and as chairperson of the Department of American Studies. He is the author, most recently, of In Search of American Jewish Culture (1999, paperback 2001), and is editor, most recently, of A Companion to 20-Century America (2004, paperback 2006). He has also served, most recently, as Allianz Visiting Professor of Jewish Studies at the University of Munich (2004). Professor Whitfield is currently editing a book on the 1971 Constitutional case of the Pentagon Papers.
