Religious Environmentalism in the West. I: A Focus on Christianity

Abstract
This article surveys the phenomenon of Christian religious environmentalism in the West. It defines religious environmentalism, and explores its nature and forms, its origins and its evolution. Factors associated with its ongoing growth and heightened public and scholarly profile of the phenomenon are briefly discussed, including the emergence of collaboration between religious and secular environmentalism. The state of the associated scholarly literature is summarised.
