James Martin
Short Biography
James Martin's research interests lie in Continental political theory and post-Marxist political analysis. These interests have led him to write on historical figures such as the Italian Marxist, Antonio Gramsci, and on more contemporary followers of Gramsci such as Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe. He is the author, co-author and editor of a number of books: Gramsci's Political Analysis (1998), Third Way Discourse (2003, with Steve Bastow), Antonio Gramsci: Critical Assessments (2002) and Palgrave Advances in Continental Political Thought (2006, with Terrell Carver). He is about to publish Piero Gobetti and the Politics of Liberal Revolution and is currently editing a collection of writings by the Greek Marxist and state-theorist, Nicos Poulantzas. He taught for 6 years at Queen's University, Belfast and is currently Reader in Political Theory at Goldsmiths, University of London.
