David Rowe

Short Biography

Professor David Rowe is with the Centre for Cultural Research (CCR), University of Western Sydney, Australia, where he has just completed a 3-year term as Director. His main research interests are in the sociology of media and popular culture, including sport, journalism, and urban leisure. Professor Rowe's books include Popular Cultures: Rock Music, Sport and the Politics of Pleasure (London: Sage, 1995); Globalization and Sport: Playing the World (co-authored, London: Sage, 2001); Sport, Culture and the Media: The Unruly Trinity (second edition, Maidenhead, UK: Open University Press, 2004), and an accompanying edited anthology, Critical Readings: Sport, Culture and the Media (Maidenhead, UK: Open University Press, 2004).
